2016 Mercedes-Trophy Winners - Armstrong Prestige Chch

The annual Armstrong Prestige Christchurch MercedesTrophy Dealer Golf Day was hosted at the Clearwater Golf Club on Friday 26th February 2016. The tournament hosted a full field of 92 Mercedes-Benz owners and VIP invited friends.
Armstrong Prestige Christchurch was again delighted to host their MercedesTrophy dealer golf day on such a prestigious course. World Number 1, Lydia Ko last week won the ISPS Handa NZ Women’s Open for the third time at Clearwater Resort. The resort also won best ‘New Zealand Golf Resort’ and ‘Best Golf Course in New Zealand’ at the International Golf Awards held in Portugal in December 2015.
After 18 holes of competition in near perfect weather conditions, 3 eligible overall winners were announced, and will represent Armstrong Prestige Christchurch at the MercedesTrophy New Zealand National Final at Millbrook Resort in Queenstown, to be held 22 – 25 April 2016. The winners included:
• 1st - Dean Rutter / Greendale GC / 43 pts
• 2nd - Ted Zhang / Russley GC / 42 pts
• 3rd - Clifford Chan / Clearwater GC / 37 pts c/b
Reintroduced in 2016 were daily prizes for two men’s handicap divisions and one ladies division. These winners included:-
Mens Division 1 (HCP 0 - 19)
1st Place: David Lee / Christchurch GC / 37 pts
Runner-up: Robbie Pheloung / Clearwater GC / 35 pts c/b
Mens Division 2 (HCP 20 - 36)
1st Place: Dean Rutter / Greendale GC / 43 pts
Runner-up: Ted Zhang / Russley GC / 42 pts
Women’s Division (HCP 0 - 36)
1st Place: June Park / Russley GC / 36 pts
Runner-up: Kath Kirk / Russley GC/ 35 pts
Competitive Nearest to the Pin prizes on all of the Par 3 holes were awarded on the day, and sponsored by Mercedes Benz Financial Services. The winners included:-
Near to Pin Mens 9th - Ted Zhang
Near to Pin Mens 11th - Barry Johnston
Near to Pin Women’s 9th - Susann O’Shannessy
Near to Pin Women’s 11th - Lucky draw – Sue Archibald
As part of the Drive to the Major Competition, a Straightest Drive competition is also held on the day. The 18th hole at Clearwater was chosen for this competition, with Merv Rodgers driving his ball to within touching distance of the line.
