Mercedes-Benz Sprinter a stayer after 17 years as No.1 in Australia
•  Sprinter tops large van market in Australia 2014
•  A record hard to repeat
Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific is celebrating after its popular Sprinter was named the No.1 seller in the large van segment in Australia for the 17th year in succession.*
The Sprinter first arrived on our shores in 1998, selling 369 vehicles. In 2014, sales reached 2,144 Sprinters sold in Australia. It outsold its nearest rivals by quite some distance, with total sales now approaching 26,000 units in Australia since its arrival.
Diane Tarr, Managing Director for Mercedes-Benz Vans, said the Sprinter had created a record that will be hard to repeat.
"To be number one in any category for such a long period of time is testament to the quality and performance of our product. 2014 was a standout year for the Sprinter. Sales globally were up 9% to 294,600 and in Australia the increase was an amazing 16%.
"The Sprinter has made its mark on the Australian landscape through businesses of all sizes; businesses that recognise quality and reliability are critical success factors to reach delivery deadlines day in and day out, week after week and month after month."
